Beyond the pale: Make-up free Katie Holmes looks washed out in all-black outfit as she steps out in New York

She is regularly seen stepping out in New York sporting casual clothes and no make-up.
But Katie Holmes looked particularly washed out and pale on Thursday while running errands in Manhattan.
With no make-up and her hair scraped under a black hat, the star looked a far cry from her more glamorous movie star alter ego.

The 34-year-old actress was almost unrecognisable in her long black wool coat over a grey T-shirt and black leggings.
She was without six-year-old daughter Suri Cruise for her low key day out.
The star looked a little glum, perhaps due to the recent closure of her Broadway play Dead Accounts.

The production ended its short run on January 6 after lukewarm reviews and poor ticket sales.
Now that she no longer has stage commitments, the mother-of-one will have more time to spend on her fashion label Holmes & Yang.
Last season, the line that she co-designs with her stylist Jeanne Yang, made its New York Fashion Week debut to mixed reviews.
Although Holmes & Yang have not yet been added to this year's NYFW schedule, the list has not been finalised and they are still expected to be added.
The actress has also appeared in an advertisement for Alterna haircare along with being the face of Bobbi Brown cosmetics.
'I love that Alterna uses natural and organic ingredients and stays away from harsh chemicals like sulfates and parabens,' the actress said in a statement. 'It’s good for my hair and good for the earth, so I feel good using it.
'When it comes to hair, great style should be sustainable. Using the right products means you don’t have to work as hard to look and feel your best.'
Having last appeared in a movie back in 2011 alongside Adam Sandler in Jack and Jill, it is unclear if Katie has committed to any more future film roles.
